Review: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I am, in general, not a fantasy fan. I have a hard time losing myself in the other worlds. But, this book, was a wonderful exception.
Not only did I not have a problem getting into her world, she brought the world to me.
I loved Alina. She was strong and fierce while still being flawed. Her feelings towards Mal were palpable off of the page, and then... the Darkling. How I love the Darkling so. I am Team Mal for Alina, but I wouldn't mind having the Darkling all to myself. He is all sorts of wonderful.
Leigh's crafting of words was beautiful, and I loved getting to know all of the characters, even the ones I hated. When Alina was betrayed, I felt just as betrayed (not sympathy- actual betrayal. I believed in these characters- and when they let her down, they let me down as well.
I read this book for my bookclub, and I am SO glad that I did, it was absolutely wonderful. I can NOT wait for book two for all the Darkling glory.
Ahem. I mean, you know what I mean! if you guys haven't read this book, you need to get on it. PRONTO. You will love it!!! :)
