The Top 12 of 2012

Best Books I've Read In 2012

Holy sweet peppery goodness. I can't believe that it's already the end of the year. There have been SO many kick-ass books that came out this year. So many I've read, so many I didn't get to read, and so many I didn't want to...[okay, that was just one, but still.]

Here in no particular order the books I loved. Lufffffed. Lurrrrved. LUH-VED.

1. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.

One word. Darkling. I love me some bad boys, and he topped the cake. The story was wonderful, and so was the world, but Darkling, oh sweet Darkling, you have my heart.

2. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

It took me a week to read this book. A week. Not because I wanted to put it down, I had to put it down. I have never cried so hard in my entire life. I wanted to be Hazel's best friend

3. Every Day by David Levithan

The concept is WONDERFUL.  Every Day A wakes up in a different body. Falls in love with ONE girl. So beautifully written. I have seen David twice this year, and love him to pieces.

4. Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Girl Assassins, YES PLEASE. Cannot WAIT for the second book in the series next year.

5. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I love fairy tale retellings, but this PURE AWESOMENESS. A  CINDERELLA retelling about a cyborg? HOLY MOTHER! Yes! This is one of my favorite 2012 debuts.  BRING ON SCARLET. BRING. IT. ON.

6. Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill

Another 2012 Debut from someone who is basically so ADORABLE. I mean she rocks my socks! I don't read too many contemps, but this one is up there with Anna and Lola. Which means, I LOVE THIS BOOK.

7. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Another 2012 debut. A sky that could kill you? Exiled girl meets hot boy?  Sign me up for this adventure.

8.The Blessed by Tonya Hurley

This by far was my favorite book.  Three Girls (In a church)+ One Hot Guy (In same church)+Disaster= One Hell of a night. I loved this book so much. The story was SO unusual, but in a good way.

9.The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman

I stayed up all night and read this book. I couldn't put it down. I think that if I did, I would forget where I was in the book and TERRIBLE THINGS WOULD HAPPEN.

10. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

I think I forgot to feed the family reading this. I got sucked into the world and angst of Karou and Akiva. I think I fell in love with them a little more....and Zuzana? Best sidekick EVAR.

11. Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

I've loved this series since Beautiful Creatures and I'm sad to say goodbye to Gatlin, SC, Lena, Link, Ethan, Ridley, Amma, and Macon. I can't wait to see the movie in February!

12. Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

Oh, Sarah, how you gave me all the feels when I read this book. I laughed at how Kami was just so, so damn SASSY. Jared....oh swoonworthy Jared... Sarah, do you how you crushed me at the end?  I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU. Well, until Untold comes out, then I will...MAYBE.

A few that didn't make the top 12:

1. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
2. The Selection by Kiera Cass
3. The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg
4. Rift by Andrea Cremer
5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
6. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
7. Partials by Dan Wells

Ones I didn't get around to read:
1. Venom by Fiona Paul
2. Fallen Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

...and the one I didn't like....

Whelp...if you are in my book club [Hayyyyyy ladiesssss!], you know which one it is...and if you're not....you'll NEVER find out.  EVER. Over my dead body.

Hope you all have a wonderful 2013...and READ LOTS.

xo, T.

  1. HI I LOVE YOU. Your list is super awesome. While I haven't read most of them (I SWEAR I WILL SOON), the ones I have read I loved. Something Strange and Deadly, Unspoken, and Under the Never Sky = <3. I disagree with Meant to Be, but I know I'm in the minority for that one haha.
