Books for Homeless Veterans

Hi my lovelies! Some of you may know that I've been interning this semester at a homeless center that works with struggling male veterans trying to get their lives back on track! It's Veterans Day today, and I wanted to be able to do something more for them than I can on site! So, I've organized this book drive for them! Accepting any and all physical books- EXCEPT ROMANCE. (Please no romance, guys.) I would love it so very much if you guys would donate. Even if it's just one book- you would be making a world of difference. You guys know better than anyone how immensely helpful and wonderful books can be!  I'll be taking donations through Christmas, and then plan to take them all in by the new year! Still working on the mailing location, but please fill out the form if you're able to donate and I will get back to you about the mailing address.
Thank you guys so much.
Also, the person who donates the most will win Something Like Normal by Trish Doller, which happens to me one of my favorite books (not surprisingly)!!
HAPPY VETERANS DAY. <3

Guest Post: Heather Hildenbrand's Ford Quiz

Some of you may know this if you follow me on twitter, but this was one of my favorite books of the year, and I'm so so excited to be able to be a part of Heather's tour!!! If you've been lucky enough to read this awesome book, you should definitely take this quiz! And if you haven't, then it's a good reason to read it now!!!
I love perusing the smutty magazines in the grocery line. It’s a thing of mine. I never actually by them but I’ll stand and study them like they’re the breaking news ticker on CNN. My daughter (who is 10 going on 17, by the way) LOVES those magazines and every chance she gets, she buys a Tiger Beat or something like it. I get a kick out of them, but also it’s weird how similar the kid version is to the adult. I mean, we don’t ever really kick our inner teenager, do we?? One of my favorites is the: “How well do you know your man” quizzes.
I couldn’t help myself. I made one for Ford. Well, what are you waiting for? You know you want to take a stab at it…
How well do you know Ford O’Neal?
1.     What color are his eyes?
2.     How many serious or long-term relationships did he have before Summer?
3.     What type of degree does he have?
4.     What does he hope to do regarding his career while at Heritage Plantation?
5.     What state is he from?
6.     What does his dad do in his spare time?
7.     What’s the name of his truck?
8.     What color is his truck?
9.     After Virginia, his next work-study program is in what state?
10.  In A Risk Worth Taking, during the scene when Ford goes to Summer for his new employee paperwork, they have a conversation heavy with tension and he traps her between himself and the filing cabinet. After Summer hands Ford the forms, what is the one thing he tells her he needs from her?

Once you have the answers, email me at heatherhildenbr@gmail.com
For everyone who gets them ALL right, I will mail you signed swag!

All the Pretty Lies
“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life.  However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her.  She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over.  For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday.  So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them.  It’s never had to be.  He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember.  Right up until tragedy struck.  Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession.  But the one thing they can’t find is a future.  Neither one has been totally honest.  And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details.  In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

Release Day Blitz: A Risk Worth Taking by Heather Hildenbrand

Synopsis:
When 22-year-old Summer Stafford’s parents split halfway through her senior year at college, Summer’s world is rocked. Everything she thought she knew—heck, everything she thought she wanted for her own life—feels like a lie. The truth is love is a risk. And the true kind, the kind that lasts, might even be a fairy tale.

Reeling from the divorce, Summer derails her own future by breaking up with her parent-approved boyfriend and giving up her lifelong plans for a big-city career. She moves back home, business degree in hand. Dad needs her to fill the gaps her mother left behind; Summer needs to find who she is outside of the cookie-cutter life that failed so miserably for her parents.

Ford O’Neal’s future involves one person: himself. He doesn’t have a permanent address and he definitely doesn’t commit. To a place or a person. Raised by hippies, he plans just far enough ahead to secure his next stop, this one landing him at a work-study program at Heritage Plantation where he can grow his own herbal and medicinal creations.

Summer is gorgeous and smart and fun to be with, the perfect way to pass five months. It won’t be love—Ford’s got too many things to accomplish, too many places to go, before he settles down. Yet Summer pulls him in, challenging him to rethink his own philosophy.

When Ford’s five months are up, each of them must decide if love is really worth the risk.

One to Hold – Derek’s Trips w/Mel
Tia Louise

Hi, I’m Derek from One to Hold. I’m supposed to tell five places I want to take Melissa.

I like this topic because I travel a lot, and I’ve been to some amazing places, both in the U.S. and abroad.

My Top 5:

#1-New Orleans. It’s my hometown, and I want to take her to Gallatoire’s for dinner, stay at the Hotel Monteleone, walk through the French Quarter, feed her beignets and muffalettas. We’ll have a ball—and I happen to know she’s never been.

#2-Paris. The city of love, of course. And again, she’s never been, so we’ll do all the standard, romantic things—stay at the Paris Ritz, kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower, have Oysters & Wine at Le Baron Rouge, find a private spot on Montmarte, and of course, the Wall of “I Love You”s.

#3-St. Thomas, USVI, is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. She loves the beach, but these beaches are unbelievable. Turquoise and white with coral reefs and sailing. She’ll fall in love twice.

#4-Mendocino, Ca., is a quaint little fishing village turned artist’s colony on the cliffs in northern California. It has lighthouses and bookshops and cafes. I think she’ll love it.

#5-Arizona, for obvious reasons. Maybe the Grand Canyon this time. Definitely the desert for our honeymoon.

Thanks again. Hope you enjoy the story. Maybe visit some of these spots yourself.

Take it easy.
